TRAIL DESCRIPTION
If you are traveling your way from Breckenridge to Fairplay or vice versa, you will find yourself summiting Hoosier Pass. Though the views are mostly blocked if you stop off at the monument and parking lot only, there is a 4wd trail that many trek onto during the late fall and winter months that take you up and out of the trees and closer to the western peak of the pass. Following along the trail, views open up wide for a three-hundred and sixty degree view of the Mosquito Range, without the hard work of a heavy climb. The trail “seems” to make a loop, but if you are like me, you will find a dead end eventually and scramble through a rock field to find your way back.
