TRAIL DESCRIPTION
We hiked a short section of Segment 5 from the Colorado Trail starting from the Rock Creek Trailhead and heading towards the Long Gulch Trailhead. This starts with a descent down to Rock Creek and a tie in to the backside of the Ben Tyler Trail. Following, it is a moderate climb in and out of Aspens and meadows with great views of North Tarryall and Bison Peaks. Hiking this direction will bring you into the Lost Creek Wilderness with pines in the distance. This trail was moderately busy with backpackers, but it was holiday weekend. Note that 4WD and/or high clearance is recommended to reach the Rock Creek Trailhead.
