TRAIL DESCRIPTION
On the south side of Pikes Peak, Rainbow Mountain can be accessed via Ring the Peak Trail. The path begins with a quick ascent then some rolling hills with a general upward trend. After a few miles in, Rainbow Mountain veers off to the left as a short stint to a false summit starts to get your lungs burning. Following, the real climb begins but is well worth the work. Making the way to the very top of the mountain to stand on top of the boulders, a 360 degree view is open to the area including The Crags, the Sawatch Range, and out towards the Sangre de Cristo Range . During the fall, several splotches of color can dot the areas surrounding. Truly a surprisingly beautiful hike.
